# Lab Cases — Real Status, Real Files, Real-Time Updates

See every lab case on the appointment, get a toast the moment the lab uploads new files, and watch status changes flow in without a manual refresh. We rebuilt the lab workflow because the previous version had three silently broken pieces — the appointment rail did not show cases, the Files-from-Lab card did not show files, and status updates required a manual refresh.

## What's new

* **The appointment right rail shows real lab cases.** Status, lab name, due date and tooth number are visible without opening the case.
* **The Files-from-Lab card actually shows files.** The previous version was silently empty because the attachment column was missing from the model. Files uploaded by the lab via the shared link now appear.
* **Auto-refresh on shared-link updates.** When the lab updates a case status via their shared link, the lab tracking dashboard refreshes automatically. No manual reload.
* **Toast on lab upload.** When the lab uploads a new file, the clinic gets an in-app toast ("New lab attachment for \[patient]").
* **Lab images in the Radiology Workstation.** Lab-uploaded images surface in the X-Ray & Radiology Files module alongside in-clinic radiographs.
* **JPEG / PNG only, 25 MB each, multi-file.** Lab image uploads are now JPEG and PNG only — no more ZIP extraction or DICOM transcoding. Max 25 MB per file. Multi-file selection in one go.
* **Creating a lab case is a full-page experience.** The cramped popup that cut off the calendar is gone.

## How to use it

  <Step title="Open any appointment">The right rail shows any lab cases attached to this appointment with their current status, due date and tooth.</Step>
  <Step title="Click a case">The Files-from-Lab card shows everything the lab has uploaded.</Step>
  <Step title="Create a new case">Go to **Clinical → Lab Cases → New Case** (full-page). Pick the patient, lab, tooth, due date and notes. Save.</Step>
  <Step title="Share the lab link">Send it to the lab over WhatsApp or email. They upload their work to the link; you get a toast the moment they do.</Step>
  <Step title="Watch updates flow in">Status updates from the lab side appear without a refresh.</Step>
