# What Each Role Can Do

> A clear summary of what Clinic Admins, Doctors, Receptionists, and Patients can do in OdontoX.

OdontoX uses roles to control what each user can see and do. A user's role is set when they are invited to a clinic, and it applies per clinic.

## Clinic Admin

Admins manage the clinic itself.

**Typical tasks:**

* Update clinic profile, branding, and operating hours.
* Invite and manage staff.
* Configure permissions and modules.
* Manage subscriptions, billing, and seat limits.
* Access financial reports and audit logs.

## Doctor

Doctors focus on patient care and clinical records.

**Typical tasks:**

* View and update patients, appointments, and clinical records.
* Use dental charting, clinical notes, and prescriptions.
* Create treatment plans and lab cases.
* Access billing information if the finance module is enabled.

## Receptionist

Receptionists run the front desk.

**Typical tasks:**

* Schedule, reschedule, and cancel appointments.
* Register patients and update their details.
* Create quotations, invoices, and receipts.
* Send notifications and manage signatures.

## Patient

Patients use the patient portal to view their own information.

**Typical tasks:**

* View upcoming and past appointments.
* View treatment plans, prescriptions, and bills.
* Update profile and medical history.
* Message the clinic and view shared files.

## Permission overrides

Admins can adjust permissions for individual staff members. For example, you might give one receptionist permission to manage inventory even though most receptionists cannot.

Permission overrides are set per user and per clinic.
