Monthly Active Patients — Replaced by Records + Portal Seats

Adding a patient record is free and unlimited — only patients you actively give portal logins to count against your seat limit, so growing the chart never costs more. We have replaced this page with a clearer split of records and portal seats. Read the new page → /admin/portal-seats-and-storage.

What’s new

  • Records are unlimited at every paid tier. Adding a patient to the chart no longer counts against anything.
  • Portal seats are what you actually pay for if you go over the included number. The included number is 100 on Pro and 250 on Pro+. A patient consumes a seat only when you tick Provide portal access on their record.
  • The MAU stat still appears, under your portal-seat usage, for clinics that liked having the activity signal. It is informational only — we do not bill on it.

Why the change

The old “Monthly Active Patients” framing measured the wrong thing. A clinic that added 1,200 chart records but only invited 80 of them to the portal was paying as if they had 1,200 active portal users. That was confusing and discouraged charting. We split the two concepts so that growing the chart is always free and only the patients you actively give a login to count against your plan.

Where to go next

The full breakdown — included seats, top-up packs, the Provide portal access checkbox and the four storage tiers — lives on the new page at /admin/portal-seats-and-storage. The in-product link on the Settings card now points there too.
