The Dental Chart — Always On, Auto-Saving, Fast On iPad

The dental chart is on for every clinic, saves automatically as you work, and feels instant on iPad even when you’re flicking between teeth. We pulled the chart out of the Pro-only gate because visual tooth charting is core to any dental practice, not a premium feature.

What’s new

  • Available at every plan. Basic, Pro and Pro+ clinics all have the dental chart. No paywall on the feature.
  • Auto-saves 1.5 seconds after the last edit. The Save button still works for explicit saves, but you cannot lose work by clicking away or closing the tab.
  • A “beforeunload” prompt fires if there are still unsaved edits when you try to close.
  • The save-status pill shows you where you stand. “Unsaved changes (auto-save in 1.5s)” → “Saving…” → “Saved 14:32”.
  • Each tooth is an isolated memoized component. Clicking one tooth no longer redraws the other 31. Especially noticeable on iPad.
  • AI-assisted notes inside the per-tooth panel. Dictate, rewrite, grammar, shorter, detailed, structure with SOAP — the full Notes experience without leaving the chart.
  • Hidden from receptionists end to end. Receptionists do not see the chart on the appointment Clinical tab and cannot reach it by URL. The chart is reserved for doctors and clinical admins.

How to use it

  1. Open any appointment and switch to the Clinical tab. The dental chart loads with the patient’s current state.
  2. Tap a tooth. The per-tooth panel opens on the right with diagnoses, restorations, and the Notes tab.
  3. Make your changes. The save pill shows pending work; auto-save kicks in 1.5 seconds after your last edit.
  4. To dictate a note, tap the microphone in the Notes tab. Use the toolbar chips to clean up. Tap Structure with AI for a SOAP layout.
  5. Move to the next tooth without saving — the chart will handle it for you.

  • Universal availability — the Pro-only gate is gone.

  • AI notes inside the tooth panel.
  • Receptionists are now correctly excluded from the chart, including via direct URL.
