Lab Tracking — A Walkthrough
Send a case, share the link, and watch the lab’s updates arrive in OdontoX without a single refresh — files included. This guide is the chairside reference; the settings reference for the same features lives at/clinical/lab-cases.
What’s new
- Full-page lab case creation. Pick the patient, lab, tooth, due date and notes on a real page instead of a cramped popup that cut off the calendar.
- The appointment right rail shows real lab cases — status, lab name, due date and tooth — without opening the case.
- A shared link for the lab. Share it via WhatsApp or email. The lab uploads their files and updates the status from the link without needing an OdontoX account.
- Auto-refresh on shared-link updates. Status changes from the lab flow into the dashboard without a manual reload.
- A toast on lab upload. “New lab attachment for [patient]” fires when the lab uploads, so you do not have to keep checking.
- Lab uploads in the Radiology Workstation. Lab-uploaded images surface in the X-Ray & Radiology Files module alongside in-clinic radiographs.
- JPEG / PNG only, 25 MB each, multi-file for lab uploads.
How to use it
- Open Clinical → Lab Cases → New Case (full-page).
- Pick the patient with the typeahead. Pick the lab. Pick the tooth and the due date. Add notes.
- Save. Tap Share with lab to get the shareable link. Send it over WhatsApp or email.
- The lab uploads files and updates the status using the link. You see the updates appear in the lab tracking dashboard automatically — no refresh.
- When the lab uploads a file, the in-app toast pops up. Click it to jump to the case.
- Images uploaded by the lab also appear in the patient’s X-Ray & Radiology Files. Open them in the Radiology Workstation if you want Ruby to read them.
