The dental chart is on for every clinic, saves the moment you stop typing, and stays snappy on the iPad your hygienist is using chairside. This guide is the chairside reference; the settings reference for the same features lives at /clinical/dental-charting.

What’s new

  • Available at every plan — Basic, Pro, Pro+. No paywall on visual tooth charting. It is part of every OdontoX clinic.
  • Auto-saves 1.5 seconds after your last edit. No more lost work when a patient walks in mid-edit.
  • Save status pill shows “Unsaved changes (auto-save in 1.5s)” → “Saving…” → “Saved 14:32” so you always know where you stand.
  • Per-tooth memoization. Clicking one tooth no longer redraws the other 31. Snappy even on iPad.
  • AI notes inside the per-tooth panel. Dictate, rewrite, grammar, shorter, detailed, structure with SOAP — all without leaving the chart.
  • Receptionists cannot reach the chart, end to end. The chart is reserved for doctors and clinical admins; the receptionist role does not see it on the Clinical tab and cannot reach it by URL.

How to use it

1

Open any appointment

Switch to the Clinical tab. The dental chart loads with the patient’s current state.
2

Tap any tooth

The detail panel opens on the right with Diagnoses, Restorations and Notes tabs.
3

Make your changes

The pill next to the Save button counts down to auto-save.
4

Move between teeth

Without saving — the chart will catch every change.
5

Add notes

Tap the Notes tab inside the per-tooth panel. Dictate with the mic, refine with the chips, structure with SOAP. The note saves to the patient record automatically.

What changed since the last revision

  • Universal availability at every plan.
  • Auto-save with a clear status pill.
  • Per-tooth memoization for iPad performance.
  • AI notes inside the tooth panel.
  • Receptionist access is properly blocked.
